Every Jedi knows the importance of balance and how we impact the world around us. It’s why we are removing non-sustainable items from all of our packaging by June 2021. We want to get there even sooner as we work through our current stockpiles.

As of January 2021, we will now longer be buying any non-sustainable or non-recyclable packaging materials.

We can’t change to packaging the items come in but we know that most of these boxes don’t end up in the bin as they are a big part of the collecting world.

What are we changing?

Bubble Wrap!

Our industry uses tonnes of bubble wrap each year, most of which is not recyclable and ends up in landfills. We’ve already started moving towards paper bubble wrap – it protects your items just as well and is both made from recycled paper and also 100% recyclable.

Plastic Griplock bags

Our custom parts and accessories customers will be accustomed to us using griplock bags to protect and separate our ORT products during shipping. We’ve now switched to a bio-degradable bag that does the same job but will breakdown in a matter of months rather than hundreds of years. You’ll see the ‘bio-degradable’ tag on these bags from now on.

Tape

Our ‘fragile’ tape is important in letting any potential Ace Ventura style delivery staff that they need to take care of what’s inside. But, it doesn’t mean we need to use the standard white plastic tape. We are now moving to paper tape, which can be recycled!

What does this mean for you?

Your orders will still be packed with the same care and attention to ensure they arrive in pristine condition. We treat every order as if it were our own and make sure it is packaged accordingly.

So really, there’s no difference. We’ll be adding a stamp/sticker to each parcel to let you know if it’s 100% recyclable.

You may still see us re-using packing materials that our suppliers send to us but we are well on the way to reducing the plastic we add to the world.

May the force be with you.
